2023 Pac-12 football schedule includes Colorado vs. Oregon as Deion Sanders' first conference game, per report – 247Sports

The Pac-12 has not yet revealed its full 2023 football schedule, but a leak is out. Several appetizing matchups are featured in the report, including Deion Sanders’ first conference game as Colorado’s head coach coming at Oregon, according to league insider John Canzano. Pac-12 teams will again play a nine-game conference schedule in 2023 and hope to end the league’s College Football Playoff drought thanks to the return of several high-end quarterbacks, including reigning Heisman winner Caleb Williams at USC.
The Trojans, entering Lincoln Riley’s second campaign, has scheduled a Week 0 game against San Jose State, which gives USC the opportunity of two bye weeks during the regular season, according to Canzano. USC will play Sept. 30 at Colorado and Nov. 11 at Oregon, which could realistically feature the league’s top two teams.
Oregon and Washington, two programs expected to be inside the preseason top 15, will both have extra time to prepare for one another prior to their showdown Oct. 14.
First-year Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, who served as Oregon’s offensive coordinator ast season, will enjoy five home games over the Sun Devils’ first six outings. ASU will play eight home games overall in an effort to warrant bowl attention and team-wide confidence in Dillingham’s first campaign, Canzano reports.
Plans for an early sneak peek at Colorado with a Week 0 matchup against Dillingham and Arizona State was nixed, according to 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello.
“(Sanders) was on GameDay with us and he actually gave us some news … breaking news, from Prime,” said Kirk Herbstreit, on ESPN, in the second half of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game broadcast for Georgia versus TCU Jan. 9. “They’re actually not going to be opening up with (TCU). Colorado’s going to open up with Arizona State in their first game, and then they’re going to play TCU in their second game. Looks like they’re sneaking around there a little bit, but that was just told to me from Coach Prime tonight.”
The Pac-12 initially approached the Sun Devils with an opportunity to play Colorado in a Week 0 game to capitalize on Sanders’ debut as the Buffaloes’ head coach. Arizona State jumped at the opportunity, sources told 247Sports.

League athletic directors voted on the Pac-12’s finalized schedule and the vote was not unanimous, according to Canzana. The “first draft” won the vote with eight first-place votes from the league’s 12 ADs.
