Arsenal go into tonight’s crucial game against West Ham with a cloud hanging over the squad, after some dramatic news emerged this week.
Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been stripped of the Arsenal captaincy following his “latest disciplinary breach” and won’t be considered for tonight’s game.
The news marks the second time in a row an Arsenal captain has lost the armband in controversial circumstances, after Granit Xhaka was also removed as skipper.
Speaking about the news, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “We have made this decision that unfortunately is a really tough one.
“If I had to choose I wouldn’t like to be sitting here talking about it, but we had to do it.
“When we have to make that decision, it’s because it’s the right one to defend the interests of the football club.”
It’s unclear who will replace the Gabon striker in the long-term, with players such as Gabriel, Kiernan Tierney and Martin Odegaard all tipped to take over the armband.

BT Sport will be showing all the action live from the Emirates Stadium today. The Premier League clash will be broadcast on BT Sport 1 (Sky 413, Sky HD 870, Virgin 527, BT TV 430). Pre-match build-up begins at 7pm and kick-off is set for 8pm.
