Since 2017, the AFC championship game has either included either the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Kansas City Chiefs. That speaks more to how dominant Kansas City has been these past five seasons as that streak will continue this year. This is a game to expect a plethora of offense. When these two met in Arrowhead in November, Patrick Mahomes threw for four touchdowns. The Chiefs did commit three turnovers, though, and the game was relatively close ending 27-17, with Jacksonville seemingly out of the playoff chase at that point. But the Jaguars have been playing with house money ever since.

Since that Kansas City game, Jacksonville got a bye week and won six of its last seven games. Things started disastrously in the AFC wild-card round for Jacksonville after a tremendous rally to win the AFC South to even make it to the playoffs. Trevor Lawrence struggled mightily in the first half throwing four interceptions against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers turned that into a 27-0 lead and had as much as a 98.5% chance of winning. But Lawrence didn't quit and threw for four touchdowns in the second half in a wild series of events to rally to win 31-30 on a walk-off field goal.
This team has nothing to lose. They went 3-14 last season. Doug Pederson has turned this team around in immaculate ways in just one season and it feels like they are going to be around for some time to come.
The stagecoach might just turn back into a pumpkin though today as they face the likely NFL MVP and the Chiefs. Kansas City had nearly 500 yards in that first game against Jacksonville. If the Jaguars come out the way they did against the Chargers, there will be no chance at a comeback. Andy Reid has this team too well-coached to give up a four-score comeback. Jacksonville will be cooked. The Chiefs are the easy favorite sitting at -9.5 for a reason but can Jacksonville make it close and shock the NFL world in consecutive weeks?
