The Washington Commanders still have a chance to make it to the playoffs. Taylor Heinicke has a lot to do with that keeping this franchise afloat with a 7-7-1 record with Carson Wentz missing most of the season. But the latter is who Washington is starting today as they try to keep its advantage in the Wild Card race. Wentz had the opportunity to bring the Indianapolis Colts into the playoffs last year with just a win over the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars. That game is largely why Wentz is in Washington now. Can Wentz rewrite the script and will his team into the postseason?

The Commanders lost big to the San Francisco 49ers last week 37-20. It was a slow start for both teams tied at seven at the half. Brock Purdy threw off the sluggishness but Heinicke was never able to which likely prompted the shift in QB this week. The 49er's third-string quarterback kept connecting with George Kittle in the second half to rally to their eighth straight win. The loss made three straight for Washington but they still hold a half-game lead over Detroit and Seattle.
The Cleveland Browns were up 10-0 in the second in a frigid game last Sunday against the New Orleans Saints but couldn't score after the second losing 17-10. Deshaun Watson continues to sputter as he regressed from his previous start throwing for 15-31 for 135 yards and one interception. Nick Chubb was the standout like always going for nearly 100 yards on 24 carries. Can this team start clicking with their new quarterback and spoil Washington's playoff aspirations?
