With All-Star Kevin Durant sidelined indefinitely, the Brooklyn Nets will play their first game without their leader when they host the Boston Celtics at Barclays Center on Thursday night. Although the Nets have won 18 of their last 20 games to move into second place in the Eastern Conference with a 27-13 record, Brooklyn will take on the top-seeded Celtics without star Kevin Durant, who suffered a multi-week knee injury in the Nets win over the Heat. The Celtics, on the other hand, still sit atop the East with a 30-12 record and have won four-straight games. Last month, the Celtics topped the Nets in a 103-92 victory in Brooklyn.

Despite losing Durant in the third quarter, the Nets earned their second straight win with a 102-101 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday. Royce O’Neale’s put-back with 3.2 seconds left gave the Nets the lead in the closing seconds, while Kyrie Irving led the Nets with 29 points.
As for the Celtics, Boston became the first 30-win team in the NBA this season with a 125-114 victory over the Pelicans on Wednesday night at TD Garden. Boston’s tandem of Jaylen Brown (41 points, 12 rebounds) and Jayson Tatum (31 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles in the win.
The Nets attempt to keep their hot streak alive without Kevin Durant when they host the Celtics on Thursday night in Brooklyn.
