Zion Williamson entered the season nursing an ankle injury. Now he’s dealing with a hip injury.
Williamson took a hard fall in the Pelicans’ overtime loss to the Jazz on Sunday night. Jordan Clarkson blocked his dunk attempt in transition, resulting in Williamson landing on his backside.
Williamson remained in the game for one possession before leaving. The Pelicans later announced that he had suffered a posterior hip contusion.
The Pelicans are back in action on Tuesday for a matchup with the Mavericks. Will Williamson play?

Pelicans head coach Willie Green revealed on Monday that Williamson would be listed as questionable against the Mavericks, but he was later ruled out.
The Pelicans will also be without Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones.
Through three games this season, Williamson is averaging 22.0 points and 6.7 rebounds on 49.1 percent shooting. The Pelicans enter their meeting with the Mavericks with a 2-1 record.
Due to injuries, Williamson has faced Mavericks star Luka Doncic only twice so far in his career. The Mavericks won both games, with Doncic posting averages of 38.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.0 assists to Williamson’s 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
