With every season, LeBron James keeps making his case for the best basketball player of all time better. His 20th season has been no different, the ‘Kid from Akron’ is now 38, and is still one of the most unstoppable players in the league when he gets going.
The 18x All-Star was always a threat to Michael Jordan’s GOAT status since the day he came into the league in 2003, but nobody thought of him to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar because of his all-round ability on the court.
With the muscles, he has had since he was a teenager, and the weight he has been carrying on a 6ft 9’ stature, plus his athleticism, and agility, he should not have played 20 years in the 82/games a season NBA.
That’s the reason why Charles Barkley, who has always made it a point to say that James isn’t better than Kobe Bryant, kept him over the Black Mamba based on pure ability.

In an old interview with Graham Bensinger, the Sixers and Suns legend, Charles Barkley, found himself in a tough spot by Graham, when he asked him who he’d say is the best player among Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.
And Barkley, while he almost tried bringing in championship in the conversation, did agree that James was just behind Michael on abilities.
“Michael(Jordan) and Kobe(Bryant) are similar. But LeBron James we’ve never had a player like him. Michael and Kobe both 6″6′, 230 (lbs) perfect bodies amazing. We’ve never had a guy who was 6″8′, 260-70 (lbs). First of all, he looked like he weighs 220, who can outrun anybody, who can outjump anybody, we’ve never had a player like that. LeBron is such a amazing freak of nature, it’s an honor and privilege to watch him play.”

It’s ironic how a man whose greatness in the history of the game would solely be because of the way he dominated the game and not his 0 championships to show for it, always brings up chips in conversations.

Barkley was tremendous with everything he could do on the basketball court. The 6ft 6” forward rebounded better than most of the bigs in the game while being a terrific scorer as well who averaged 22.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game in his 16 years in the league.
That’s an absolutely dominant career stat for someone who played two positions above his size. But he played in some of the better teams in the league by the end of his career.
Chuck teamed up with Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler in Houston in 1997 while they added Scottie Pippen the next year after Drexeler’s retirement. Neither team was a success, and Barley didn’t win one championship before his retirement in 2000.
