Rutgers vs Penn State: LIVE Thread – 247Sports

It’s time for another Big Ten showdown as Rutgers takes on Penn State tonight. Rutgers will take on Penn State as the Scarlet Knights look to get back on the winning track. Last time out, Rutgers dropped a 70-57 decision to Michigan State on the road. That loss ultimately dropped Rutgers out of the AP Top 25 following a No.23 ranking last week. Rutgers is 13-6 on the season and 5-3 in Big Ten play, which is good for sole possession of second place in the conference.
This will be the first of two meetings this season between Rutgers and Penn State. The Nittany Lions are 12-7, with a 4-4 mark in the Big Ten. In its previous game, Penn State outlasted Nebraska by a final count of 76-65. Here is a look at tonight’s matchup and all the essentials.

Head coach Steve Pikiell on playing Penn State:
“Penn State is excellent, and they probably have one of the best players [Jalen Pickett] in the whole country. We’ll learn from [the Michigan State loss]. This group has been good. They’ve learned, they’re coachable. It’s a great group. It really is. We’ll learn from it, and we’ll see [Michigan State] again in a couple of weeks, it doesn’t get any easier. We’ll see them in Madison Square Garden. We’ll learn from it. We’ll move on and we got another obstacle in front of from Penn State.”
Head coach Micah Shrewsberry on Jalen Pickett:
“If you just look through the box score, you have a guy with 12 points and 13 rebounds and five assists. I know he turned it over seven times, but you would be like ‘he had a really good game.’ But what he’s done so far this year, he really didn’t. But he didn’t miss very many shots. He did turn the ball over. I will put that on me. I have to help him crack the code better of what he’s looking for and how to do it.”
Rutgers will get back on the road this weekend with a contest at Iowa. The game is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday. Iowa is currently 12-7, coming off a 91-89 loss to Indiana. Prior to that, the Hawkeyes were on a four-game winning streak, which included a 76-65 win over Rutgers inside Jersey Mike’s Arena.
